Most people live in condos for the convenience and the security.
But residents at 33 University Ave. may not be too excited about the police checkpoints they’ll soon be confronted with as they try to enter or leave their building.
It’s not the condo board’s fault this time, but rather a result of next month’s G20 summit at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
The condo is the only residential building that falls within the fenced security perimeter.
To ensure access to their suites, residents have to apply in advance for security clearance and will then receive a special ID card that will get them past security.
It’s still unclear whether residents will have access to their underground parking during the summit.
The general public will be allowed to enter the fenced-in security zone but could face long lines and random security checks.
