Doria on Yonge reopening as Food Dudes Pantry

Contradicting the idea that nothing ever changes in Summerhill and Rosedale, the space at 1094 Yonge St. will have its third concept in a year when it reopens as Pantry, a casual restaurant by The Food Dudes.

In spring 2015, the successful Toronto catering operation and restaurant group (Rasa and Omaw) bought Caffe Doria from longtime owner Rosa Agostino. They quickly converted it from a coffee-and-pastries cafe to a rustic Italian restaurant with a menu focused on Neapolitan pizza, Italian classics and lighter, seafood-focused options.

Food Dudes co-founder Adrian Niman tells me by email that Pantry will carry “our staple proteins, sides and healthy salads,” and also that “we are in the middle of building a custom smoker after a trip to Texas to offer some BBQ proteins."

The pizza from the Doria days will stay on the menu.

The plan is to open Pantry from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and offer inside and patio setting for dine-in, as well as catering to the to-go crowd (with biodegradable containers, naturally.)

Niman summarizes their plan for Pantry by writing: "We feel Rosedale needs a reasonably priced prepared food spot that offers a unique experience."
