This Riverside diner just bought a farm

White Lily Diner is serving veggies sourced straight from its own farm

The White Lily Diner owners are taking farm-to-table to a new level. The owners recently purchased a farm in Uxbridge, Ontario and, as of spring 2021, most of the produce served at the diner is from the newly christened White Lily Farms.  You can sample the non-certified organic produce at the restaurant or sign up for one of their new produce boxes.

Boxes are reasonably priced at $17.50 and come stocked with a variety of produce that’s currently in season. Right now, boxes include carrots, onions, lettuce, collard greens, kale and mixed herbs. You’ll also get a recipe for braised collard greens to kick start your culinary inspiration.

Produce boxes can be picked up at the diner (there’s no delivery option currently) from Wednesday to Sunday by choosing your preferred pickup date on the White Lily Diner website.

The new venture (and adventure) gives the diner a way to enhance the quality comfort food patrons already know and love it for. White Lily Diner was established in 2016 and quickly became a local favourite. The diner prides itself on serving locally procured ingredients supporting the community and Ontario farmers. Presently, the diner is open for patio dining on a first-come-first-serve basis.

This spot is popular, so we recommend calling ahead to see what the patio lineup is like or waking up extra early to grab a seat (worth it!). White Lily Diner also has a takeout menu (including a selection of Ontario wine and spirits) available all day for pick up the next day or the same day.

You can also grab fresh donuts made in-house Wednesday to Sunday (highly recommended!). If you’re looking for fresh produce this summer and want to support local, the new White Lily Farms produce box looks like a great option.
